This
web drawing my attention to work in the field of palm pests in the Gulf Arab
countries. Red palm weevil threat palms in these countries and insecticdes used in alarge scale
in spite of its side effects. No natural enemies recorded in
the area and some attempts trying to introduce the bioinsecticides;nematodes,bacteria,
fungi and viruses;as biological control agent.We must be stressed on reducing the population size
of adults.Phermones used for trapping the weevils,
but it must be evaluted with fermentation baits.It, also,used for
monitoring and can be protect palms with repellents instead of chemicals.

I am working in the plant protection unit of the Agriculture Section of Abu Dhabi Municipality. Regarding the chemical control measures for the REP is not sufficient. We are, here ,practising a MICRO-PHYTO-INJECTION on date palms which are heavily infected which gives a 100% cure and it involves water economy,pollution free and above all ecofriendly and cost effective and sure of killing of the endophytically infecting dreadful RPW larvae.
CommentsBy Micro-phyto-injection method being practised by Agriculture Section, heavily infested palm tree with full of endophytically operating dreadful larval RPW, we can save the palm instead of burning it out. And this method involves no pollution environmentally, water economy which is a scarce commodity in the desert locations like pennisular Arabia and with one litre of any insecticide and one dozen bottles of mineral water about 500 heavily infested palms can be cured of the infestation.
